This is the fourth book in the Sookie Stackhouse (Southern Vampire) series.

I found myself bored and struggling to read through this book. Which is how I felt about the second book  in the series as well. It seems I have a pattern of liking every other book.

Every time I picked up this novel I saw the cover and just shook my head in disgrace. I realize all the covers in the series are very cartoonish but this one in particular just annoyed me.

Alright, on with the plot. Eric’s memory gets wiped but Sookie finds him and takes him in. Shortly thereafter, Jason goes missing.

Sookie wants to believe that the witches responsible for erasing Eric’s memory have also kidnapped Jason, but there are no leads on this theory.

This new Eric is completely endearing and Sookie struggles to resist his charm. Again, Bill is out of the country but given that he is officially the ex, Sookie finds herself thinking about him less.

Shape-shifters, vampires, and werewolves get together to fight a war against the witches that are causing trouble in town. But these witches are not easily defeated. They are very powerful and are ingesting vampire blood to boot.

There is a pretty good twist at the end, however apart of me wanted Sookie to end up with Alcide, again. Or perhaps she should end up with the new Eric and become committed to him. That’d be a great twist.

I don’t want to deter anyone from reading this book. If you like the series so far, this one will be enjoyable as well. There is lots of actions and with witches in the story, it proves to be more of a challenge for the original characters.

I, however, just could not get into it. I find I don’t care for any of them, aside from maybe Alcide, but even he gets on my nerves. I think I will wait a bit longer before picking up the next book. But I am determined to finish this series come hell or high water.

This is the first of the Riley Jensen Guardian novels. Riley Jensen is half werewolf and half vampire, a truly rare breed that makes her dhampire, AKA the “mule” of the paranormal world.

She’s also got a twin brother, Rhoan who she senses is in great danger. On her mission to save him she finds herself in more danger and the twists and turns just don’t stop. She learns, perhaps a little late, that no one can be trusted.

Riley must team with the vampires to find the enemies and take them down. However, life is just not that easy. This is the week of the full moon, which also happens to be the mating period for all the wolves. As soon as the sun goes down, the lust goes up, along with the aching passion for doing the moon dance in the nude with whoever happens to be in her presence.

Bring on Quinn. Riley gets partnered up with a very old, but very sexy vampire named Quinn. You don’t have to be very creative to imagine what happens between the two!

I absolutely loved this book. It’s got so much adventure and romance it felt like I was reading a James Bond story where James Bond meets a nymphomaniac.

I look forward to reading the rest of this series and can only hope it keeps up with the first book!

This is the 6th edition to the Queen Betsy series and it’s a step up from all the other books in the series because it leads in a very different direction.

Everyone goes missing in Betsy’s life. Some people die, others have excuses, but most are just missing in action, including her groom, Eric Sinclair. With less than two weeks before the wedding you can imagine the panic Betsy suffers.

She refuses to believe that the disappearances are anything more than coincidental but once she accepts this truth, she becomes an all new, fierce queen and she proves her royalty to all that doubt… including herself.

I noticed that the 7th book in the series takes on a new look and I was having difficulty understanding why after six of the same Queen Betsy look, why change? But after reading this book, I get it.

Betsy is no longer the helpless damsel vampire queen in distress. She now has the ability to fight her own battles without the help of others, and she still has her love of shoes.

Great edition to the collection and I can’t wait to read the next!

This is the first book in the “Kitty” series. It’s about a werewolf named Kitty. She hosts a late night radio talk show where the supernatural call in to get advice and the curious call in to find out about the supernatural.

She ends up meeting and befriending a werewolf hunter, a vampire, and a detective. But she also loses some close friends within her pack, and gets on the bad side of one too many people.

Soon Kitty finds she’s doing everything she can to keep her show, her life, her dignity, and avoid crossing paths with a murderous lunatic.

It’s a good read, and I loved the character development.
Can’t wait to read more!

This is part two of the Darkest Powers series (Book One being The Summoning). So this story picks up pretty much where the first left off. Minus the zombies.

Chloe again finds herself in captivity and has to devise and escape. Who she brings along with her on the escapade is surprising. Good guys become bad, bad guys become good, and Chloe discovers early on who can be trusted.

We learn more about supernaturals and what they can do. There is more magic from the witches, more Changing from the werewolves, and more accidental raising of the dead from the necromancer.

I love the relationship between Chloe and Derek and I wish it would grow into something else. Though there seems to be something brewing between Simon and Chloe as well. Talk about sibling rivalry.

Unfortunately, there is no further mention of the raising of the thousand corpses from the cemetary nearby. On the plus side, the cliffhanger isn’t as bad as book #1. We know that this is going to be a trilogy so we can expect to be left with the feeling of wanting more. At least this one didn’t end mid-sentence.

Which I know that the first didn’t, but it certainly felt that way.

Good read, good edition to the series and I look forward to the finale.

This is the fourth and final book of the Twilight series and I’m very sad to see it end.

It was the perfect conclusion to a fabulous series with everything you need to feel satisfied. It’s a happy ending for almost everyone. But alas I’m moving along too quickly.

The novel starts with the beautiful Cullen wedding and it was written so well I felt that I was attending it myself.

Alice organized and planned the wedding for Bella and Edward and she didn’t miss any details whatsoever. Bella’s dress was ideal for her and even though she doesn’t have the flawless features of a vampire, all eyes are on the bride. She is absolutely stunning. All clumsiness aside, she doesn’t falter once as Charlie walks her down the aisle.

They say their “I do’s” and are off to the surprise honeymoon. Edward has kept this a secret and Bella has no idea where she is going. Alice packed the bags so she can’t even predict the weather.

As time and money are of no object the honeymooners are able to enjoy every aspect of the island they are on.  In what seems like no time at all, Bella discovers that she is pregnant. Because the child is half-vampire, half-human they decide not to take any further risks with the ‘monster’ and  their honeymoon is cut short.

At this point the story is told from Jacob’s perspective. He discovers that Bella is pregnant and  thus the tribe finds out as well. The tribe makes a decision to kill the monster before any trouble comes to Forks and the rest of the human population. Jacob is now completely torn. He agrees the child should be killed but doesn’t want to kill Bella in the process. The pregnancy is clearly hard on her and she has no chance of survival.

A bond is formed between Leah and Jacob because of their unrequited love for Sam and Bella respectively.

The novel then changes back to Bella’s perspective.  She explains the pain and torture that she receives in the process of childbirth and her ultimate survival. Too soon the Volturi find out about the abomination of the child vampire and as this breaks the biggest vampire law they make a snap decision to destroy the baby and all those involved in the process. Given that the Cullen family has supported Edward and Bella thus far, they are all targets of the Volturi.

A bigger war is at hand and again the werewolves are involved. At this point I was a little disappointed. There was so much build up to this war and not enough action. I believe that Meyer made her point but I still would have liked to see a bigger battle.

The story ends just after the battle and it may have well ended with  “and they all lived happily every after.”
I did love this novel and this entire series, I think I just wanted a little more. Who am I kidding? I wanted a lot more – why did it have to end at all?!

Eclipse is part three of the Twilight Saga and is a page-turner from the beginning. Edward and Bella are back together and spending every day with each other. Soon enough Bella finds herself in trouble… again. Edward and the rest of the Cullens put Bella in lock-down. She has to be ‘babysat’ at all times because a war is brewing and she is the cause.

They all slowly discover who the enemy is and are feeling defeated. They have no hope to survive this war as they are outnumbered and any real defence would be futile. This becomes a battle between werewolves and vampires, and it’s deadly. The Cullens choose their allies wisely and the battlefield is levelled.

The relationship between Bella and Jacob grows and she is forced to make a decision between her two loves, her boyfriend and her best friend. I was disappointed with some of Bella’s actions and choices but ultimately it all needs to happen, and it only makes you love Edward and Jacob that much more.

The love the boys have for Bella is undeniable and your heart breaks for her and the difficult choice she makes. She has to break someones heart and in the end, your heart breaks too. I loved every bit of this story, except the epilogue.

Eclipse gives detail to Rosalie’s, Jasper’s, and Jacob’s past. It provides so much more depth to the character and helps us to understand why they think and feel the way that they do.

I can’t wait to read the fourth and final book of this series to see how it all ends.

New Moon is part two of the Twilight Saga.  The entire series is the epic love story of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. In the first book we saw how they became a couple and the goals they had to achieve to stay a couple.

In book two, your heart breaks as Edward decides to part ways from Bella. This story is how she copes with the loss of her love. She loses many friends as she tries to accept the world without Edward and she can’t seem to fill the void that he’s left behind.

She meets with her old friend Jacob Black, who helps her through her dark days. Their relationship grows and the bond strengthens but in her heart Bella knows she cannot replace her soul mate. It’s not long before Jacob leaves Bella to join a cult-like gang. Now she is left to cope with a new loss as the two men weave in and out of her life – mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Personally, I found this one a little harder to get into, but once I was in – I was hooked. Be patient with this novel and you’ll see it is just as exciting as the first. You learn about other mythical beings and that no matter what species you are, love will conquer all.

I loved learning about Jacob Black and found that my heart ached with Bella’s the closer she got to him. But I did find one flaw with this story. Although Meyer explains why Bella is able to hear Edward’s voice so clearly as she approaches danger, it doesn’t explain why she knew what to do when she was stuck in between a thirsty vampire and a ‘grizzly bear.’ Personally, I expected more from this. There is no way her instincts would guide her through that, so something is missing in Meyer’s description.

If you can deal with 200-400 pages of heart-ache for a ‘happy ending’ please give this book a shot – flawed or not, I loved it!
