This is the second book  in the Queen Betsy series.

Betsy is having one rough week as her house is being destroyed by termites, she has no job, awful luck at the unemployment agency, the steamy detective is on to her newly ‘undead’ status, people are killing vampires and as Queen she needs to do something about it, and both vampires and humans want her dead.

She and her friends move into a super fabulous house but too big to be comfortable and now they have all sorts of unwanted guests.

This books is written in the same style as the first. It’s light, witty, and fun. Sinclair is still hot, Betsy is still a shoe-obsessed hot head, and the banter between the two is priceless.

I found that this book was as predictable as the first, unfortunately. Not to say that the first book was predictable but knowing the ending and the bad guy in the first, it’s not hard to guess who the new bad guy will be.

I’ll compare this novel to one of the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich. I’d much prefer to read anything by MaryJanice Davidson, as the woman has me in stitches – but her main character makes one or two silly errors, that you’d expect only from the not-too-clever/never-learns-from-mistakes Stephanie Plum.

I will say, however, that Davidson brings some new elements to this book and Queen Betsy finds herself with some new advantages to her royalty.

A must read for vampire and chic-lit fiction lovers!

This is the first of the Queen Betsy series and it’s one very memorable week for Betsy Taylor. It starts off as the worst day in history but then only seems to get worse.

At least Betsy makes light of the situation. It seems all fun and games despite her misery. It doesn’t take long for her to realize she is now a vampire. Though none of the stereotypes and vampire clichés seem to hold true. It’s nothing like the movies at all!

She doesn’t need to sleep in coffins or underground, she doesn’t need to drink blood all the time nor does she really find the urge to. She can’t seem to kill herself despite numerous attempts. She can’t eat food anymore, but she also doesn’t need the bathroom so I suppose there are plusses. There are good vamps and bad vamps and all of them want to show Betsy the ropes of being a vampire, or just kill her for non-compliance.

She has her friends and her mom for full support and she meets some other vampires that take her under their wing, even though she really doesn’t want to be there. Her dad is still spineless and his wife is just as arrogant. So not everything changes after death.

It’s not long before Betsy is haled Queen of the Vampires, and like it or not she has to deal with that too.

I absolutely loved this book! It was so funny and sarcastic that I just couldn’t put it down. It’s a very light read, and although it’s yet another vampire book on my very long list, it was quite refreshing. I will read the rest of the series for sure, but I urge you to read this one. If you dislike it, than you can take a pass on the series, but if you like a reckless female heroine, this is the story for you.
