Hey everyone!

Yes, I’m still here. Barely. I’ve missed VoT Fridays twice now but I have good reason. Well it’s not really good, but there are reasons.

Last Friday was my husband’s birthday. We spent very little time at home, let alone on the computer. There was zero time for blogging.

The following day I spent ALL day in bed. I was feeling very under the weather and just didn’t want to move. It may partially be due to the good dream I was having but mostly I think it was the illness.

That night we had another birthday party to go to. So I hauled ass out of bed and made my way down town Toronto to a very swish restaurant that serves expensive meals in tiny portions on very large dishes. I’m pretty sure they just throw every flavour in a bowl and add some meat and pasta and call that a meal.

Whatever it is they do, they take at least 2 hours to prepare. I don’t think I’ll be going back there. In my bowl alone there was asiago cheese, pine nuts, mangos, tomatoes, beef, mushrooms, and pasta. There may have been some sort of rice as well. Fortunately, I lost my appetite and Danny lucked out and got two meals, his and mine.

Considering the size of the portions, he still only felt it was one meal and we hit up the nearest McDonalds afterwards. Overall, it was a good night. We had good conversation with good friends and it was nice to get out.

Sunday, I spent the day again in bed. On Monday, I made the trek to the office. When I got there I still didn’t feel right. Danny, the great man that he is, noticed my symptoms and called the doctor. He told her I’d been in bed for basically the last three days and have not recovered.

So the two of us head to the doctor’s for an emergency visit. She tells me I’m ok, gives me a flu shot and sends me to the hospital for another shot that they only give out in the emergency room. I’m feeling relieved now.

My mom and Danny trade places and Mom and I head to the hospital. I was fine on the way in there, but 5 hours later, I’m cranky, hungry, miserable, and tired. They have run some blood tests and tell me I’m allowed to get the shot that the doctor prescribed but had me wait quite a while longer before actually giving it to me.

Danny calls me every hour to see how I am. Even he’s worried now. By the time I left the hospital it was 10pm, I had a bruise in my arm from where the crabby lady took blood, and what feels like the remnants of a punch to each of my shoulders. Damn shots.

The emergency doctor ordered me bed rest for the rest of the week, no heavy lifting, and no sex. I called Danny and told him to postpone the big orgy fest he was planning, it’s just too hard to have sex and lift heavy things.

I have to say that by the next day, I’m glad the doctor put me on bed rest. My arms couldn’t lift themselves let alone any heavy objects. Whatever they gave me knocked me right out. I felt like I had the biggest boxing match of my life the night before and clearly, I lost.

So that’s where I’ve been. In bed. Sleeping. I haven’t been reading, because I don’t have the energy to absorb anything. I haven’t been knitting because I don’t want to start something I can’t finish.

Simply put, I’ve done absolutely nothing.

But that’s not entirely true. In the land of REM, I’ve had the most incredible dreams. So I started to write them down. What started as a bunch of scattered thoughts has turned into the beginnings of a book.

I always wanted to write a book. So who knows? You may have something more complete to read in just a short time.

Honestly, I had to look at the calendar to verify. I just can’t believe it’s the weekend already.

My schedule is on the fritz these days. With the comings and goings of the contractors, my husband dealing with his post-surgery trauma, and myself working two jobs and still finding time for my furry family, and all the dang doctor visits; it’s no wonder I can’t find the time to post anymore.

Well have no fear! October is officially “scary-book” month, so there will be plenty of reading and reviews to do. Stay tuned for that.

In the mean time, have a good weekend and enjoy today’s edition of Video on Trial. Perhaps I’ll have a post for you by Sunday night talking all about my time as part of the “wicked-trio” and our adventures with Robward.
