I know the recession is hard on everyone, and some of my closest friends have been hit. They seem to be better for it, so if they’re not complaining, I’m not going to be upset about it either. I’m happy if they are, plain and simple.

Yesterday, I saw the new Harry Potter movie, and as luck would have it, my SCENE card covered it. I like free surprises. The movie was excellent, aside from a few cell phones. No need to rant about that, I believe I covered it the first time.

I won the lottery. That felt pretty good. Got a second job, in a way. My company made me feel valued by asking me to help out other teams. I don’t have to work extra hours unless I want to, I keep my existing job and responsibilities, and my work load increases.

I’m happy about this though. I feel needed. Tons of people out there are being let go and any of us still hanging on to our jobs, don’t have a lot of security. I’m grateful that I can help out.

I have everything I could ask for, a loving husband, cherished friends, and a mother who has more heart than anyone I know. So while I’m appreciative of what I have and think that life can’t get a whole lot better, I’m proven wrong!

Is anyone else as excited about this as I am?

And as a side note, I had another wicked, awesome dream about Matt Giraud last night. Since it’s been a while since I posted something about him, I figure there’d be no harm in adding it here.

I actually clicked on the above link by accident. I was perusing an article about a movie in the making and the scroll feature on my mouse disabled. I clicked in the window to make it work and I accidentally clicked a link which brought me to my future boyfriend, Matt. Pretty cool odds, if you ask me.

After seeing this video I watched others on the “Idolatry” site, and I love these interviewers. They don’t hold back, they call ‘em like they see ‘em, and most importantly they call out the American Idol judges. Everyone always comments on the Idol Conestants, people forget about the judges. The judges aren’t perfect either though and it’s nice to disagree with them as well. A variety of opinions is always a bonus.

Fourth, Hitched or Ditched?

New reality show. I’m just checking out the new digs and they all seem to be reality shows. I don’t think I’ll continue to watch this one but I gave the season premiere a fair chance. Without giving away spoilers on the ending I just wanted to say that the bride and groom just needed ONE person to say “Whatever you decide, I will support you.” Without that, their relationship and perhaps each person as an individual, will suffer.

Last, but certainly not least, my good friend Stephy.

I’m so very proud of her. We all go through our tough times when our bad luck seems it will never end. But this girly here kept on going. Maybe not always with a smile, but at least with a brave face.

She got into her first choice law school and starts this September, which I cannot express my enthusiasm and excitement in words. Congrats hun, you deserve it!

AND Stephy has a wicked cool, super secretive job. This girl tells me everything and yet I’m not privy to all the details of said job, so we’ll just leave it there. I will say that I’m a little jealous! Check out her blog (click photo) to get a sense of her brilliance.

Isn’t she as cute as a button? Yes, she is!

Last week has been rough. First of all, the sperm bank that was my father is now known only for the unsanitized douchebag that he is. This is a fitting title, since his wife is a dirty cunt.

I don’t like dropping the c-word, honestly. But let me explain why this word suits her. First, she’s ugly. Inside and out. Miserable, and ugly. More specifically, she tried to sabotage the relationship between my mother and I when I was just a youngin. Feeding me several lies.

She told me countless times that it was MY fault that my grandfather didn’t like her, which is totally classy considering he’s no longer with us. She BLAMED me when my father had an affair (and got caught). She tried to ruin my wedding, and she has driven a permanent wedge between me and my brother.

So ya, she’s the c-word all right. A big, dirty cunt. I’d post a picture but I think the computer would crash and life as we know it in the Internet world would soon become extinct.

So the douchebag that is her counterpart gets all upset. Doesn’t understand why I would drop the c-word so freely. Are you kidding? So instead of telling me how upset he is, he hacks into his other daughter’s Facebook account and starts saying nasty stuff on her behalf. Tells my husband some things, my mom some random stuff, and myself. To me, he says something to the effect of “I’m not a sister” or something. Trying to make me think that a 13-year-old doesn’t love me. Big, strong man…

He even said things to my friends. My friends who have know idea what’s going on. And it’s all incoherent babble. Like worse than alcohol-induced. That’s right, daddy… we all know you’re back on the coke. Douchebag.

So I call him and tell him off. As if he wants to yell at me for calling his wife a cunt, then actually get to the heart of the issue… He married the cunt, now he has to deal with it. Serves him right.

So I’m over all that drama right? Then I get a letter from the government telling me that my husband’s application for permanent residency has been rejected. Don’t even get me started here. They fucked up. So in this whole recession that is our way of life, I have to panic that I might lose my job, and my husband can’t even get a job because he’s just an immigrant… Scratch that. He’s just a visitor. On permanent fucking vacation.

And I’m sick. Stupid flu. At least it’s not the pig flu. No irresistable urge to roll around in the mud. Yet.

So why have I been posting about Matt Giraud? Because I’m sick. I’m tired. I’m stressed. I’m overworked and underpaid. My husband might be deported. Life sucks.

But Matt – he’s a breath of fresh air and a temporary escape. So let me have it.

Yesterday I bit the bullet and called in sick to work. First time since last summer.
I didn’t even have the strength to stand. So I went to bed.

I slept all day and all night. In total, I think I was awake for 3 hours yesterday, and not all at once.

I didn’t want to call in sick two days in a row, so here I am, working away. At least I get to work from home today. In the comfort of my pajamas.

I wish Matt Giraud had an album out. He’s like my chicken soup.
