Like the four before it, the story is told through the eyes of the leading lady, Jack Daniels, as well as the serial killer. Unlike the first four books, Fuzzy Navel is also told by every other character as well.

One by one they take the reader through the horrid day that Lt. Jack Daniels is having. It’s bad enough that the killer she thought she put away has escaped with vengeance, but three new characters are introduced into her life, and all of them have snipers and night vision.

The killer wants to get Jack and her loved ones into a house so that the torture and death games can begin. The snipers want to kill everyone in the house. For 24 hours, there is no where to hide, no where to run, few ways to fight back, and no light to see… unless of course you’re the sniper.

This novel was as anxiety-ridden as it gets. Non-stop action kept me flying through the story with my heart pounding.

It ends on a fuzzy cliffhanger, leaving me a tad heartbroken. I look forward to reading the next installment to the series, Cherry Bomb.

It’s about time, is all I can say to that.

So Rachel Caine decides to change it up a bit in this novel. First off, this story doesn’t start exactly where the last one finished. There is a small gap, but the time lost is quickly filled in with a few sentences or so.

Second, the book doesn’t end on a giant cliffhanger. It leaves you with the feeling that more is to come, but after all the anxiety in this story Claire finally gets her break.

Third, and possibly most importantly, Claire makes a mistake. It’s a potentially fatal mistake and I’m still not sure how she made it. Since this happens towards the end, I won’t say too much about it, however I will say that she deserves a good smack for her stupidity. She figures out who the person is but can’t seem to understand that the person is guilty. It’s just not a mistake we expect from Claire.

This book is great from start to finish, and the changes the author made to the story line are refreshing but not detrimental to the plot.

It’s another race against time for Claire and her friends to save the town from Bishop.

Looking forward to the next edition to the series for sure!

To be honest, I found the beginning of the story a tad confusing. New characters were introduced with the understanding that the reader already knew them.

After finishing the first chapter I went to check the list to see if I had missed a book by accident. I had not. This is indeed the fifth book.

So as far as new characters are concerned, there are quite a few. Sophie, a vampire that reminds me of Tina, and her boyfriend Liam, a human. Antonia (yes another Antonia, which also causes brief confusion), a clairvoyant werewolf dating George the Fiend.

Aside from New Antonia being a werewolf and seeing the future, nothing really happens with her and I’m a bit disappointed. Though it does leave me wanting to read more in hopes that her character will go into some depth.

George the Fiend is now Garrett the Cross-stitcher. Apparently he is no longer a fiend since he is able to throw together some sentences… and some blankets… and has a girlfriend.

The European delegation, ancient vampires, come to pay their condescending respects to the “new” majesties, Betsy and Sinclair, though they’ve been in power for going on a year.

That about sums it up. As always Betsy meets her near death… again. Friends become enemies, enemies become friends.

Betsy anticipates her upcoming birthday and begins to embrace her royal status.

And there is a zombie in the attack.

Another good read, light, fun fluff.

After the massive outbreak at the ball, the humans make a run for it and try to get to the safe houses. The vampires segregate into two groups, those following Amelie, and those following Bishop.

Amelie tasks the four Glass House residents to individual assignments and for the first time in the series, they are parted.

Claire goes with Amelie on a mission to save Myrnin. Shane takes the book and the bloodmobile and is on a rescue mission of his own. Eve is sent out with Oliver to Common Grounds, and Michael goes to the University with Officer Richard Morrell in an attempt to hold down the fort.

Then utter chaos ensues.

The humans need to decide who to support in the battle between Amelie and Bishop, and several people decide to break out on their own. They feel it’s time to take back their town and mobs begin to form.

Then the vampires start disappearing. And so does Eve.

Just when things are finally starting to settle down, Morganville is hit by a terrible storm. Will the town survive the war, or be left in the debris?

I can’t emphasize enough how much I enjoyed this book, so I’ll keep it simple. Loved it! Can’t wait for the release of part 6 in the series.
