This word is used often in my house. For us, it means “a little bit of everything.” So if you’re shopping and you can’t find something, it’s best to look in the Haberdashery section.
The first time I heard my husband use this word I laughed until I was blue in the face. I really thought he was just making up words again as he so often does. There is no ‘haberdashery’ section in our stores in Canada that I’m aware of anyways. So one day I hope to open a Haberdashery store, just for kicks.
Next is the “I’m feeling lucky” button on Google. It again brings up Wikipedia but instead of “haberdashery” it just says “haberdasher.”
A haberdasher is a person who sells small articles for sewing, such as buttons, ribbons, zippers, and other notions.[1] In American English, haberdasher is another term for a men’s outfitter.[2] A haberdasher’s shop or the items sold therein are called haberdashery.
Ha! There’s a great definition again. The items sold in a haberdasher’s shop are called haberdashery. Excellent.
Check out Google images.

Ah, the blue ribbon haberdashery

haberdashery boots? wallpaper?

These fine gents must be haberdashers

Haberdashery the Bunny
OK I cheated. The bunny is not in Google images, but my husband sent this picture to me as I was posting. He took this in our front yard. Isn’t he cute? The bunny, not my husband.
