Word of the Day – Poppycock

As you may have noticed, I don’t really blog anymore. It’s not because I don’t want to, or because I don’t like to, it’s mostly because I have nothing to talk about anymore. It’s a little because I don’t have the time, but mostly because my brain is empty.

So today I was going to talk about the new business I’m starting, but since I’m not really ready I’ll have to wait. When the website is up and ready I will definitely post about that.

I’m staring at the TV trying to decide what to post about. Should I talk about the Ghost Whisperer? I’ve been watching the series on DVD, since my husband was so kind to buy me the entire set I’ve been kinda hooked. I just can’t think of anything to write about it.

Should I talk about my Nintendo Wii? I noticed the light on it changes colour. Does anyone else notice this about their Wii? The light is orange when it’s plugged in, blue when it’s on, but today for no reason, it’s red. Weird? Yes, I thought so too. Just not weird enough to write a post about.

So I decided to hit the “I’m feeling lucky” button on Google. The first word to pop into my mind was “Poppycock,” don’t ask why. It turns out that Wikipedia is the first thing that comes up. I really thought it would be more random. Wikipedia just gives the definition “Poppycock is a brand of candied popcorn.”

Even the definition is boring. You’d think Poppycock would be more then just candied popcorn. But there it is. The word of the day.

Google images turned out a better result. How random are these?

The snack.

The man who calls himself Prince Poppycock, I saw him on America’s Got Talent.

And my personal favourite… the weird man, who for some reason got tagged a Poppycock.

Any ideas what the “word of the day” should be next week? Post your thoughts!

Haha, this is awesome. Poppycock is also an old British term (from its empirical days) to disagree in a way that says someone is talking absolute crud.Example: "The sky is tartan.""Poppycock!"Ah, words… :)

I have to agree with Roger – I thought there was some sexual connitation. As for the Wii – the light colours have meaning – it is normally yellow when it works, I believe blue is when it is communicating with master control at Nintendo headquarters and red means it is off.
