So Little Time

I had a very awesome weekend. So awesome in fact, I’m just getting to writing about it now. Sorry about that, this week is busy for me as well, but I’ll get to that later.

On Friday I had a very lucky day. I went to the store to buy a magazine but feeling lucky I decided to purchase a lottery ticket. I’m never lucky. If the odds were 9 in 10 you’ll win, I’d be the one who doesn’t. If the odds say that 1 in 1,000 women in their 20s with blue eyes will suffer from vision problems before their 30th birthday, I’d be the one calling my eye doctor pronto.

Anyways, for whatever reason Friday felt very different. So I purchased a lotto ticket and I won $12. Yep, $12! That’s a very big deal. The most I’ve ever won was a free lotto ticket, which ended up winning nothing.

Then on Friday night, we went to a charity event hosted by 12for12k. It was a great time to say the least. All proceeds went to Haiti, and there were door prizes and raffle prizes, and great music. What’s not to like?

The cool thing about how the draw was done was that each prize had a raffle box. So you bought as many tickets as you wanted and put them into whatever boxes you chose. There was a wonderful golfing excursion for four, but as I don’t golf, it just didn’t make sense for me to put my tickets in that box.

So I bought 25 tickets and split them between 5 cool prizes. I ended up winning the best one! A brand new snowboard and hoody. My husband wanted the board and I wanted the hoody. It was an excellent day. And they raised over $1500 for Haiti at the concert alone. I’m sure there was more raised online. Speaking of which, should you wish to donate, here’s the link. Every little bit is appreciated.

Saturday was very quiet. We ended up staying awake, well past our bedtime, but it was quality time worth spending. Sunday was more of the same, but we went out to a new place for brunch. I’ll be going back there for sure. That’d be a nice place to go to every Sunday, if I had the time.

Monday after work I had to bring my wee dogs to the animal hospital. After running some tests a couple of weeks ago, the vet found that my dogs had abnormally high levels of a liver enzyme. Turned out to be ok, so this week they went back for their neuter operation.

Tuesday I had a doctor’s appointment. Everything looks and sounds good, but I have to see the doctor more frequently now, just to make sure it stays that way. Last night, my husband picked up the dogs from the animal hospital. I missed the little buggers, that’s for sure.

The house was just not the same without them. I have one cat that is not a big fan of the dogs, but while they were gone he slept in their bed. I think he missed them too.

Today things are back to normal again, but for one day only. Tomorrow I have many appointments, and I have to commute back and forth between cities. Friday, I have an appointment after work to get my nails done – FINALLY! My husband treated me to a spa day, but booking the date proved difficult.

After that, I’m taking my BFF out for a belated birthday dinner – and thus begins another busy weekend. Though I’m hoping Sunday will be a day of rest.

Busy busy!

Jacki, I'm so glad your critters are okay, and I'm glad the fundraiser was so successful! Sadly, I was in Vancouver and couldn't make it out… Sounds like you rocked it though. ;)
