Carpe Corpus by Rachel Caine

carpe-corpusThis is the sixth book in the Morganville Vampire series, and Claire finally turns 17! It’s about time, is all I can say to that.

So Rachel Caine decides to change it up a bit in this novel. First off, this story doesn’t start exactly where the last one finished. There is a small gap, but the time lost is quickly filled in with a few sentences or so.

Second, the book doesn’t end on a giant cliffhanger. It leaves you with the feeling that more is to come, but after all the anxiety in this story Claire finally gets her break.

Third, and possibly most importantly, Claire makes a mistake. It’s a potentially fatal mistake and I’m still not sure how she made it. Since this happens towards the end, I won’t say too much about it, however I will say that she deserves a good smack for her stupidity. She figures out who the person is but can’t seem to understand that the person is guilty. It’s just not a mistake we expect from Claire.

This book is great from start to finish, and the changes the author made to the story line are refreshing but not detrimental to the plot.

It’s another race against time for Claire and her friends to save the town from Bishop.

Looking forward to the next edition to the series for sure!
